Playtime

Once again, I had the pleasure of visiting the BKLYN DESIGNS trade show in DUMBO.  It's really such a nice group of people.  As ridiculously inspiring as the ICFF can be, that one is almost too much to absorb in just two days, way too many people, and the booth representatives always seem to be cranky and over-extended.  BD, on the other hand, is just a lot of fun.  I highly recommend it.

So I'm going to talk about some of my favorite things from the show, in no particular order.

The first one is pretty quick.  It's a toy created by Cas Holman called Geemo.  Cas was very fun to talk to about her new toy, but she often has very important beeswax to take care of, as you can see here:

Anywho, Geemo is a little critter made of flexible foam-rubber with magnets on its feet.

So they can stick together in all sorts of different ways.
I was having a lot of fun playing with them at the booth, actually.  They can hang around together, or walk up and down the refrigerator, Cas was even wearing some of them like a Martian necklace of some sort.  It's such a simple idea, but they really get your imagination going.  And if you buy kids a big, crazy, expensive toy, they just end up playing with the box, anyway, right?  Kids like using their imagination, and it's even better for them than spinach.

They were being sold at the MoMA Store for a while, and Cas is also talking to a few little toy stores around the city to get them out there.
